Tax Discrepancies

Tax Discrepancies

As Woosage50 works with two different systems, WooCommerce & Sage, both of which can have different tax calculation methods and number precision, there is scope for discrepancies between the WooCommerce order and the imported sales order/invoice in Sage.

As Sage stores prices excluding tax, and many clients use Sage as the source of website product prices, by default Woosage50 works on the following assumptions:
  1. Prices in WooCommerce are entered exclusive of tax
  2. Prices are entered to 2 decimal places
  3. Taxes are rounded at line item level, not subtotal level
  4. WooCommerce tax calculations are used in Sage
Note: in item 1 above, this refers to how prices are entered and stored, not how they are displayed to customer, which may be different.

Some clients may have prices entered inclusive of tax and in such case we adjust the tax accordingly.  However, if prices are entered to a higher number of decimal places there may be discrepancies between the tax in WooCommerce and Sage, so we recommend enabling the following Advanced setting in Woosage50.

      High precision per line tax

This will increase the precision of the tax on each line item.

Using Sage tax calculations.

As a rule Woosage will import to Sage the values of prices, tax, shipping etc. that the customer has seen on the website order and checkout pages.  In situations where, your customer understands that some values may change (such as where daily prices are used or delivered weights may be different), then there is an option to use Sage tax calculations by enabling the following Taxes setting in Woosage50.

      Use Sage tax calculations
